Hailed as a “nightingale who stole the show” (De Volkskrrant), “unique and unforgettable” (Collector), and “a phenomenon” (GogolFest) Israeli vocalist Reut Rivka has been defying and redefining genre boundaries since the beginning of her career. With a repertoire spanning traditional operatic soprano roles, early music, world music and jazz, virtually no genre of singing has been left untouched by this ever-curious artist, constantly searching for new inspiration.
As an operatic Soprano, Reut Rivka has sung under the batons of Jules Buckley, Jos Vermunt, Peter van Heyghen, Phillippe Pierlot, Sebatien Marque, Mike Fentross, Danny Nootboom, and others. In 2001-2012 she was accepted as a soprano coloratura at the New Israeli Opera Studio. Her roles included Pamina (Die Zauberflöte/Mozart), and Despina (Cosi fan Tutte/Mozart) with the Jerusalem Academy Orchestra, Belinda/Second woman (Dido and Aeneas/Purcell) at Festival Classique, Nerone (Agrippina/ Händel) in Koninklijk Schouwburg and Opera2day company, Adina (L'Elisir d'amore/ Donizetti) at the Dutch National Opera Jubileum festival, and Costanza (L'Isola Disabitata/ J. Haydn) with conductor Sigiswald Kuijken and Regisseur Marie Kuijken (Collevecchio, Italy),
As an early music and Baroque singer, Reut has performed as soloist with Sigiswald Kujiken (La Petite Bande), Steven Devine (London Baroque), Fabio Bonizzoni (La Risonanza), Andrew Parrot and the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, Patrick Ayrton, Charles Toet (Renaissance Festival, Modena), Peter van Heyghen (Utrecht Early Music Festival), with Collegium Musicum Den Haag orchestra, with ensemble De Swaen (Amsterdam).
A passionate Lied Repertoire singer, she has given recitals alongside renowned fortepianist, while being broadcasted live at RadioWest (NL), as well as at the Utrecht Early Music festival.
As a vocalist in contemporary music, Reut has sung title roles in opera productions with Silbersee - VOCAALLAB (NL), Muziektheater Transparant (Belgium), Studio Minailo (Amsterdam), Voi-Z (NL), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (NL) and the Radio France Orchestra in Paris. Reut regularly collaborates with several contemporary composers—including the Bulgarian Peter Krekelov and the Israeli-American Mátti Kovler—who wrote works specifically tailored to her voice, in recognition of her vocal flexibility, and improvisation capabilities.
She further collaborates with Jazz and World music masters such as Maria Pomianowska (Poland), Nadishana (Berlin), David Kucherman (Berlin), Boris Malkovsky (Krakow), a tour with Chris Hinze (NL), Dima Gorelik (Poland), Clarence Penn (New York), the legendary Arnie Lawrence (New York) and Max Roach, Accordion master Emil Eibinder, Tomer Katz (Buzuki, IL) et al. Reut has unique experience performing the music of various vocal traditions, such as Balkan, Arabic, Greek, and Ladino. Reut holds degrees from the Jerusalem Music Academy and the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague.
